2 - Extent : the diocese comprises six States : North, South and West Kordofan, North South and West Dar Fur, a total of 15 provinces.
Pastoral situation : because of the civil war, the diocese is split into two. Part of the Southern area can not be reached from El Obeid. By delegation of the Apostolic Administrator, Bishop Macram Max Gassis is to care for the pastoral assistance of this area.
